We all have our favorite celebrities; this is why the entertainment industry is one of the most successful in the world. Flocks of tourists travel to L.A. to do tours of the studio backlots, trudge down the walk of fame, and try to get a glimpse of Hollywood homes. While we’re on the street packed into a tour bus wishing we were the celebrity behind the walls of their fabulous homes, however, some of them may be wishing to be in our seat.
Despite being in the public eye all the time, the uber famous aren’t immune to the same issues from which we often suffer. Contrary to popular belief, most celebrities really are just like us, they go grocery shopping, the put their kids to bed at night, and they get haunted by the former inhabitants of their homes. Sure, the ghosts are knocking around a much bigger space, but a haunting is still a frightening feature when you’ve just relocated.
- Nicholas Cage – As one of Hollywood’s more eccentric celebrities, it’s not surprising that Nicholas Cage went out of his way to be haunted by a ghost. He purchased one of the most haunted houses in the United States in order to experience exactly that. When he purchased the LaLaurie Mansion in New Orleans, he was looking to get haunted, but reports say he didn’t even sleep in the home for a full night before deciding to sell it in 2009.
- Adele – You can’t turn the page of a magazine, right now, without hearing something about Adele. With the sales numbers on her latest album, it’s no wonder she’s been out and about a little bit more, and it comes as no big shock that she recently acquired a gorgeous new home, and former convent, in Sussex, England. However, she’s got the willies about her new abode. Quoted as saying it “gives her the creeps.”, Adele has heard many a bump in the night and keeps her bodyguard on standby, just in case.
- Joan Rivers – The late, great comedienne, Joan Rivers didn’t keep mum about much. Willing to give her opinion wherever she went, she also wasn’t shy about detailing the haunting of her apartment. Reportedly, the apartment’s former occupant stuck around to mess with the electricity and scare Rivers’ pets. Her penthouse was sold in 2011, just two years after telling Larry King about her woes.
- Anne Rice – Anne Rice was crowned the queen of vampire literature, before the Twilight books were a gleam in their author’s eye. She also happens to be a big enthusiast for New Orleans and its antebellum homes, and began purchasing property in the 80s. One of her purchases included the Brevard House, a gorgeous mansion with a secret. A strange mist is said to surround the house, and when Rice moved out in 2010, the house remained vacant for several years.
