People love to be scared; that’s a fact. Millions of people anticipate the Halloween season, as they develop plans to flock to the latest and greatest horror movies, haunted attractions, and legendary abandoned establishments in their area. However, what do they do to get that fright during the remainder of the year? Whether factually-based or fictional, people get their fix by watching paranormal and supernatural TV shows!
If you’re looking to get your Halloween fix year ‘round, here are some of the best:
- Ghost Hunters – This show, a reality program, includes the antics and adventures of a ghost-hunting team checking out regular people’s claims that their property is haunted or that they’ve experienced a paranormal encounter. Many people tune in to watch this one, as they just kicked off their eleventh season on the SyFy network. If you’re a supernatural reality show fan, you’ve got to check out what the TAPS team has to offer.
- Supernatural – Currently in it’s twelfth season on the CW network, this show features a pair of brothers who cross the country investigating mysterious disappearances across the United States, following in their father’s footsteps. While the show is not solely about ghosts, it has plenty of ghostly episodes that will keep your attention. Check out seasons 1-11 on Netflix, and some of the current season on Hulu Plus.
- The Dead Files – Premiering on The Travel Channel in 2011, this show features a duo of ghost hunters, a psychic medium and a retired police officer, looking for spectral activity in reportedly haunted locations. With over one hundred and fifty episodes under its belt, this show has proven quite popular with the paranormal crowd.
- Buffy the Vampire Slayer – Horror and paranormal fans have made this show more popular in its retirement than it was while it was airing active episodes. The show saw a major resurgence when released on all of the available streaming services for free. Centering around a teenage girl, destined to save the world, the show features the top fiends and monsters, including demons and vampires, but also features a little bit of ghostly activity and plenty of supernatural activity to whet your appetitie.
- Paranormal State – The A&E show, cancelled after a handful of seasons so the team was free to pursue other opportunities, is available on DVD for your viewing pleasure. It features the adventures of Penn State University’s Paranormal Research Society. They sought to find paranormal activity at reportedly haunted locations across the country, using sophisticated equipment. It was met with incredible critical reception, but when the members disbanded, the show was swiftly cancelled.
